Cosplay in Korea (Part II)

This is my second post on the phenomenon of Cosplay in South Korea (you can read the first one here).

There are a number of differences to Cosplay in Korea, and in the States; the most obvious is gender.  Unlike American conventions that are 80-90% male, Korean conventions are predominantly female, 60-70% in fact–and so are the cosplayers.

I had some difficulty getting a plausible explanation from the locals (I don't speak any Korean).  However, I ran into a pair of Americans at a recent comic convention, and they were able to explain a few of the differences:
